Steve Jobs’ best is yet to come

In his resignation letter, Steve Jobs said that the best days of Apple are ahead of it. He was only too humble to say that his best is yet to come.

Siri that made her debut a day before Steve Jobs passed away, will be remembered as his latest and greatest gift to mankind.

He will be remembered not only as someone who brought computers to the masses or revolutionized the movie industry or the music industry or the phones or reinvented computers but the one who brought artificial intelligence to the masses.

IPhone 4S received the most wary reviews since the first announcement of iPad and we all know how that has turned out. Ipad’s success will pale in comparison to Siri’s effect in our lives. His best is yet to come.

Did you really think that he left the stage without one more thing?

Siri was already an app. Think broader/bigger. Dev cycles for big projects/features that he spearheaded are still 1-2 years out.

4S. There’s no such thing as an iPhone 4GS.

    Corrected. Thank you.

The point I am trying to make is that what Apple will do to Siri will transform it and make it the one more thing that will change our lives.

I would tend to agree with you. People have not realized what is the meaning of Siri.
It is a new way to interface with machines as we will talk naturally to them. This is the kind of interface that was present in Asimov’s book and other SciFi authors and the one that we saw in all our beloved movies.
It could be a life changer for all of us and the first time we could really talk to machines. If it is successful and ready this could in the future change the way we look at machines.
I am sure Steve had this vision. Thanks for that Steve.

Siri isn’t a gift to mankind. It’s a nice product that ships with the newest iPhone.

    Just wait…just wait.

Dean Kamen said this about the Segway, too.

I am speculating that the exact opposite will happen here. Siri is A.I. and I believe Apple is on the verge of making A.I. a commonly available and viable technology. This will profoundly change our lives like the computer and the Internet. In not so distant future, when we look back we will remember the day Siri was announced as the moment in history when it all began.

Siri existed for years without Steve… Saying it’s ‘his’ gift is just completely stupid. Apple bought them up yes, so big up to the original team.

Apple Bob is his greatest gift?

    We’ll see..

:-) . I guess we will. I am speculating that Siri will be the beginning of a new era in technology, namely mainstream use of artificial intelligence.
